Thank God my daughter is okay!  She was driving the 1974 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup towing the 18' Texas Rollback trailer with her 1971 Camaro on it headed back to Peoria, AZ after racing at Super Chevy at SIR track east of Tucson, AZ.  We were on Interstate 10 headed west toward town with her husband Joe following with  his Ford F-350 with a 38' Toy Hauler with two Jr. Dragsters in it and I was behind him with my 2500HD Chevy truck towing my 24' Haulmark enclosed trailer when a "flying mattress" out of truck in front of my daughter hit her head on! (See how bumper on truck is bent!)  She was running about 60 mph at the time and she did a magnificent job of driving even though the trailer hit the guard rail and her car broke loose and went into the borrow ditch because she was trying to avoid making contact with the fuel tanker truck that was passing her at the time!  The force of the trailer hitting the guard rail caused the empty flatbed trailer to now begin swinging and she was doing her best to stay away from the fuel tanker but the trailer hit one of the valves on the fuel tanker trailer and from what we know at this point, the driver filed a claim for the valve and 8 tires on the back of the trailer which he believed, apparently had flat spots on them.

Thank goodness he had just dumped his load of fuel and the trailer was empty or there could have been one big fire as that valve leaked a bit but he was able to get it shut off by the time the Fire Dept. arrived.  The Camaro was brought home and the truck and trailer are in Tucson waiting to be viewed by the insurance adjuster.  I would guess about 60' of guard rail was wiped out!

My daughter's insurance came through for her!  They gave her $8,000 less $250 deductible for the 74 half ton pickup which she had insured as a "collectible vehicle"

valued at $8,000.  The "flying mattress'" ladies insurance is paying $2,300 for repairs to the trailer which is being done and daughter will retain ownership of the trailer once repaired.  Hope folks that repair that trailer realize that it has brakes on both axles, not just one like most trailers!  Still waiting on AZ DOT to make their claim for guard rail and the trucker for his fuel valve.  Seems like the DOT's claim should be "zilch" as that is part of normal "wear and tear" and the purpose of the guardrail in the first place which is paid for by every gallon of fuel we buy at the pumps!  So, right now it's back to the "waiting game"!
