As I was scheduled for surgery, on my right shoulder, early Tuesday morning, and this will be the only chance I get to race for a while, my son put the old Super Chiefs back on the 606.

Went to the track this week end. It rained all day Saturday, so I didn't even unload. Sunday, it started clearing up in late morning. I was just there to test. On the first pass, the engine died when I matted the throttle against the trans brake. Pass aborted! Marty pulled the intermediate air bleeds and lowered the floats. I got one pass in before it started to rain again.

Monday, I entered the Top Dragster class (minimum dial 8.49). I made one qualifying pass.

1st round: I dialed 8.27 and was paired with a dragster with a 7.67 dial.

1/4 MPH 162.56 and I let off right at the line, because he wasn't there.
He was .013 off his dial, but I was .0011 under mine. Oh well! maybe I can get a few runs in later in the season.

good try, maybe next time when your shoulder heals. I had my rotatorcuff sergery 1.5 yrs ago and it was tough, you just have to stick with the rehab nomatter how much it hurts. hope you heal quicker then me, I traded my dragster for something w/ doors.  good luck with it  Tom S. s/c  s/st  4662

Thanks, Tom! An aid came to my house and removed the cold water pack and pump, and took off the pain medicine drip. He said that he has never gotten back one with as little used. Now all I can do is wait to see the doctor on Wednesday, and see what he says about me getting into the car, the weekend of the Fourth of July. If he even says maybe, I'll have my son move the chute release lever, and the fire bottle release.

I pretty much give up on trying to make the 4th of July weekend. I can't even reach the shifter with the sling on my arm. Here's some pictures of my car. The last 2 are of just before my qualifying pass.

I finally got back in the car, on Sunday 7/27. My son, Marty had moved the chute release lever, changed the rear gears to 4.10s, to get the rpms down with the 9" Fairbanks converter, that I had. Well, it did drop the rpms, but the car slowed down to 8.45 @ 160, so were going to put the pro-mod converter back in, with only 300 rpm slipage, and a set of 4.57s in the rear. My brother called and said that he had talked to Marty, and they're both looking forward to seeing the wheelstand that I'll do with this set up. Personally, I can't wait!
