Since the day i was born i been around racing. I remember when i was 5 years old running around the pits. Its been my passion to race motorcycles basically, forever. It wasnt till last year at nationals when i truly new it was what i wanted. I sat staring down an empty lit up track, there was absolute silence and from the moment on im dedicated to make it. Ever since i been doing everything in my power to race next season. Being only 17 i kinda cant drag race, so i do the next best thing MOTOCROSS. Im starting my first season there and im stoked and really nervous. I crew cheif for my dad who has been out of drag racing for quite some time but we are back! I have writen for dragbike.com and abate newsletter and hope to have a career in motorcycle journalism. Through writing i have gotten to be friends with some of the best and next year have champion drag racing ready to show me the ropes. I have a lot of people im my corner helping me along the way and i am so thankful for them. If it was for them i would not be where i am. Im horrible at mechanics and need to get better at it since my dad wont work on my bikes forever and it looks cooler if i do it haha. I may be a motorcycle junkie but got a passion for dragster as well. Who knows i may pull an Antron Brown move in the future and go to top fuel. That would be pretty sweet if i say so myself. Till then i'll be at the races living and breathing racing as normal waiting for may of next year to start racing.

Wow we are showing my age now! I grilled fajitas in the pits at INDY that weekend there was like almost 20 t/f harley and inline bikes trying to Qualify and a full field of FB also !!! the piston in the chest Im still coughing! The kawasaki video was the best the first drag bike I rode raced at that event and was owned by Pace Kawasaki! The ex pres of AMA scooter/terry kizer won at that race! Wow I was like 22 then, We have come a very long way!! thanx I will put into a file for old age!!rr

Morning Sunshine, A good buddy of mine is the team manager for Matt Smith do you have any Idea what it costs to Have Sonny Leonard custom build a set of championship heads my buddy Brian Olson told me they gave him a blank CK! I think thats what happened to MUZZY the money thing just couldnt afford the development! Yep bar bikes are a dieing breed but I dont have a thing against sport bikes with wheeelie bars! A wheelie bar bike in any configuration is a DRAG Bike and thats what I live for DRAG Racing not the dual purpose kinda thing! The roads are dangerous enough without 200 hp busa's buzzing the streets!! I know all about the scared thing look at any fast bike riders eyes in the waterbox it tells the whole story!!! Its the basic man/women and machine deal its simple horsepower and alot of mind control!! Rich

Just 6 wks away!I wish muzzy would bring the A game back to prostock but$$$$$$ is the issue there! I expect to see some great stuff from Rick Ward Performance also ZX14 in the new factory extreme catagory the next step will be to devastate pro stock in the NHRA! The harleys did it and everyone said it couldnt be done!Dont get me wrong I love all bikes but i will always be MEAN & GREEN when it comes to Drag Bike racing!!!! When it was stylish and financially ok for me I had some pretty fast 8 plug head 1500 cc Ward stuff in a 7in small tire bike that went 770's that Keith Dennis had owned previously! With a skinny little guy that runs Pro-mod now Darian Guillory on board to hang on and whimper and at that time go barf in the porta potty between rnds! I can build it and set it up but the riding part is in my past and heck I crash and burn pit bikes muchless trying to stay on a 300+hp nitrous small tire bike!! There are only a couple guys that can ride what i can build locally and i have scared most of them!!!

Yep we are dinosaurs and have the scares to prove it! But I bleed Lime green and my bruises are definately black! Ive been saying this a long time now, I hope i live long enough to see it a Kawasaki in the winners circle at a NHRA event?Ive already made my flight and room reservations for ATCO in sept and will be there thurs about 300 pm? Cant wait to meet your gang and introduce you to Janie Palm what a great person muchless racer! I bet I can can give you some good stuff to write about after that weekend!!! RR

Yep me and your dad will be buds im sure! Elmer is the reason I take my role in bike racing so seriously!Im also a dinosour kawasaki guy also most of my gang ride them I do have plans for a zx-14 combo in a big tire bike for top gas that my best freind Bob Lohr 8 time gateway champ will race in 2009?? If I can get the pieces reasonable from ins.pool.A consistant combo is what Im lookin for computer/fuel inj and watercooled!! Im an ole dirt bike guy also Bultaco,Maico and Husqavarna were my weapons of choice shows my age a little? In drag bike stuff my first was a yamaha RD350 and then the holy grail a Norton 810 dunstall conversion on a rickman roadrace frame! Yep I am that old I wish i had it back now just for retirement purposes!! Dont worry all that will do is make you and your writing suffer and gray hair that will fall out and take alot of fun out of the equation! Worry about what school you are gonna go to next yr that is your next step into the future! Race to win but race to have fun!!!!RR

Connie, Its a place to start and let rest fall into place! I see me and your Dad have a lot in common! Elmer was my Idol and think about him everyday! My Mentor now is Larry Mcbride a great buddie of Elmers and a true friend and one of the major reasons why I still do what i do! I have a lot of freinds out there but if it was not for Larry and a couple others I may have walked another path far from the AMA? Good things will come to you dont try to manipulate it on your own! Its better to have help on the way there! I told you i have a different kind of perspective on things in the bike world its in your mind, body and heart not a notepad! I promise you that!RR

Well let me see what i can tell you? I believe U.S.Rider news spawned off into straightliner which is owned by Tim Hailey,Deb also writes for him along with Matt Polito from Dragbike.com and Dragbike photos which is Racing perspectives? Pretty low overhead small business,Tim drives all over the country in a ole beater astro van shoots video and writes stories! What a charachter in his own world! He never slows down a bit. More experiance behind the handle bars will give you more perspective, and REMEMBER what i said about school! Im looking at some journalism programs for format, spell cks and drafts if i find something decent and cheap i will send you info! The way to get your stuff printed everytime is perfection so the editor does not have to make changes or adjustments to the content! Start writing some stuff on up and coming young racers in the bike world that could be your ticket into the thick of things! Its is easier for young people to relate and talk about the sport amongst their peers? Just an idea for me its easier to talk to the Old kids cause im old and can relate to the way they express themselves! Its easy to approach people on the same wavelength with other topics besides the bike racing part so it makes them more comfortable to talk about the truth and meaningful subjects which will lead to a better all around interview! I know my perspective is strange but thats what I have learned on my own without the school thing! Just some Ideas to ponder? RR
