My 71 RS Camaro is powered by a 401 c.i. small block with a Powerglide tranny, Ford 9" rear with 5.14 gears with a couple of 32" x 14.5W Hoosier sticking it to the track. At my home track at Firebird International Raceway (1,225' altitude) I have ran 10.03 at 133. It is a 3,070" car as the only thing that isn't steel is the hood and the front and back windows are lexan. I know the car is capable of running in the 9's but I have not desire to take it there even though it has a NHRA certified chassis down to the 8.50. I
don't want to have to get a Super Gas license and wear a full fire suit to bracket race in 110 degree temperatures at 67 years of age! My daughter also has a 71 Camaro with a 427 small block in it and it has run 10.60's with a 9" slick, a glide and Ford 9" with 4.88 gears in it. We run flatop piston's in hers to keep the compression down so she can stick with a 9" slick and CalTrac system. Her car has all the factory seats in it, front and back and weighs in excess of 3200 pounds! It is currently under re-construction from being thrown off her trailer in an accident on I-10 near Tucson following Super Chevy there in February. Nasty deal! Hope to get it back in shape before year's end! Good luck racing!-Guy

My 71RS is an all steel car except for hood and RS nose and weighs around 3080 pounds with me in it. I run a 401 small block---Little M Dart with Dart Pro 1 CNC heads, 950HP Comp roller with Jesel Sportsman shaft rockers, 1.76 glide
with 9" Ford with 5:14 gears turning 14.5W x 32 Hoosier slicks. Best run on this motor in good air has been 10.03 at about 134! Have no desire to run in 9's even though car is certified because I don't want to wear a full fire suit and gloves out here in the desert when we race sometime when temperature is 110 degrees! Daughter's car (see mattress post) has a 427 small block in it but not as much compression as mine and about 150 pounds heavier than mine and in good air she can run mid-10's when we get the car straightened back up after the freeway incident! Keep having fun!
